The college is located in the M.R. Medical College campus. A major Broadguage Railway Line connect Gulbarga to other major cities like Bangalore, Bombay, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanyakumari and Rajkot. The city is an excellent educational centre and approximately 7.0 lakh population with peaceful and academic environment for students.

The school of pharmacy was established in 1973 with two year Diploma course in pharmacy and has been upgraded to college of pharmacy in the year 1983 offering a four year degree course in pharmacy leading to B.Pharm and also started a post-graduate course in pharmacy leading to M.Pharm in 1995.

“HKE SOCIETY”, a premier institute, imparting value based and career centered education in diversified faculties, has withstood the test of the time for more than 6 decades. Shri Shashil G Namoshi has been blessed by the electorate of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society as President in the month of March, 2024. He is known for his frankness, candidness and reformative initiatives with a concern for the overall development of the society in general and educational institutions in particular.
The Society which started with single educational institute is now spread its branches all over the state with total of 49 institutions functioning under this. The Society is striving hard to uplift the educational aspirants and cater the education in diverse fields with prominence for Medical and Engineering Sciences.

He has completed B. Pharm in 1995 at HKE Society’s College of Pharmacy, Gulbarga, under Gulbarga University (now Kalaburagi), and M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Analysis) with First Class from HKE Society’s College of Pharmacy in 2000. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, in 2011.

He served as a pharmacist at HKE Society’s Basaveshwar Teaching & General Hospital from 1992 to 1997. He then joined the teaching profession at HKES College of Pharmacy in 1997, soon after graduation, serving as a lecturer. Following his post-graduation in 2000, he continued in the same college and is working there to date, having served as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, and HOD of Pharmaceutical Analysis. He has over 27 years of teaching experience, guiding students at the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels, along with five years of non-teaching experience in hospital pharmacies.

The institute is affiliated to the University of Kalaburagi and is approved by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
